Some thought thingies

This is superb. A cover with heart and soul. It just leaves me with questions.

Like, why don’t I hear protest songs like this any more?
Just answered that with Pink. She has turned out at least two thoughtful, protesting songs that I can think of, off the top of my head.

Whoa! Maybe I should be listening to more Pearl Jam. That guy has pipes. Surely he cannot sing pap?

What is the guy in the suit playing? It’s not a banjo, it’s a mini guitar. Is that a thing?

Whoa. 1992. Maybe that’s why he’s wearing a v-neck sweater thing over a tee, with really bad pants.

1992? That was Dylan’s 30th Anniversary tribute concert. Shit. That means Dylan’s been around for 52 years. I feel bloody OLD now.

20 Random Questions of the Soul

found this courtesy of LeendaDLL who does the best memes!  So, blogging it onward, here's my 20 Answers.

  1. If you could take more control of one aspect of your life, what would it be? The state of my house.  If only every one else who lived here would leave, I could have the minimal, clean and uncluttered look I would love to have.  And be lonely.  Instead, I have to share with six five others, who all want their own junk and like to leave it wherever it was they last used it.  And I mean junk.  Who needs all of Buffy and Angel – on video?  Hasn't been watched for years.  But get rid of it – noooo, we will watch in – when we have time, when we are ill, when, when, when.  Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!
  2. If you were to state the difference between the male soul and the female soul, what would it be? Hunting v gathering.  I know it's simplistic, but that's what I think.  Men like to control, to be in charge.  Women like life to be smooth, to gossip and network.
  3. If you had to give control of your destiny to any one person, who would get it? No one.  Ever.  Joni says it best – since I was seventeen, I had no one over me.
  4. If after you die your spirit could protect anyone in the world, who would you pick? Daughter.  The world is a dangerous place for us all, but I only have one daughter.
  5. If you were to name the most comforting thing for you to hold in your hands, what would it be? Shit.  My first thought was A large glass of Jack Daniels – that cannot be good!
  6. If you were to leave instructions for what music would be played at your funeral or wake, what would it be? Sun is Shining – Bob Marley vs. Funkstar De Luxe – cos life goes on.  For the title alone Why Go by Faithless.
  7. If you could learn one thing (but only one thing) about your own death right now, what would you want it to be? Nothing at all.  Nada.  Zilch.
  8. If you made a very big mistake of some kind, who, of the people you know, would you first confess it to? Kay.  Or Husband.  Sometimes Daughter.  It really would depend on what sort of mistake.
  9. If you were to describe your attitude toward sin, what would you say? It's bad.  If you want to know what I think is a sin, that is a whole different question.
  10. If you could ask a psychic one question, knowing you would get a true answer, what would you ask? What are next week's winning lottery numbers.
  11. If there was one primary law or principle you lived by, what would you say it was? Me first.
  12. If you had to name the best thing about getting older, what would you say it is?  Not having sexuality being a driving force.  I still like eye candy.
  13. If you were to select a person whose persona does not fit their body type, who would it be? Me – 100%
  14. If you were to name three people throughout your life that helped to complete you as a person, who would they be? Little David, Husband and Kay.
  15. If you were to say there is a person who truly practices what they preach, who would it be? I don't think I know anyone without some degree of do as I say, not as I do.  Aren't we all a bit like that?  All Hail if you are not, and lucky you if you know someone like this (Justin Rudd?)
  16. If you were to name the most comforting place to be touched by another's hands, where would it be? Neck.  Shoulders.  .
  17. If you were to name the one thing you have the most compassion for, what would it be? Suffering creatures – animals, children, grown ups – anything in pain.
  18. If you had to admit the most selfish thing you do on a regular basis, what would you say? Blog – instead of doing stuff for others, like cooking breakfast or doing the ironing.
  19. If you were to design a room for contemplation, what would it look like, and what would be in it? Smooth walls, smooth floor.  Very little in it.  Maybe water, maybe candles, maybe definitely a luxurious rug.
  20. If you had to pick one dream you've had that came closest to coming true, which was it? Thank god none of my dreams have ever come true – my dreams are wild and scary and – oh, not dreams in my sleep.  Hmmm.  Raising healthy children.  Though I always feel bad saying at least they're healthy, cos there are so many parents out there who can't say that.  Damn this being a catholic anyway!
