There is a Picard Crater on the Moon

Who knew?

But it is not as I, delirious with joy, first thought,  named after the best captain in Starfleet, Jean-Luc Picard, but the 17th century geodesist, Jean Picard.

Jean Picard, noted French Geodesist

Jean-Luc Picard, noted Starfleet captain, giving Jean Picard the finger.

Picard, noted Moon Crater, giving no one the finger.

I’d rather have Jean-Luc. Tasty!

But where is crater #1, who will make it so?

  2. leendadll says:

Since the Jean-Luc character was probably named for Jean, I’d say the crater is actually named after both of them.

  3. buffaloshark says:

is there an earl gray crater?

Sadly, no. But Wikipedia has a list of all the named craters on the moon. I wonder who they decide who names the unnamed ones…

I may just have to Make it So!
