QotD: At the Playground

Swings, see-saw, merry-go-round, slides… something else? What was your favorite activity at the playground when you were a kid?

I hated the playground. Being bullied does that. But I think the best bit of equipment was the Witches Hat. I used to sit on the top of that and freak out the teachers. They never noticed the pinches, the kicks, the unkind words, the blood – but they noticed when THEY might get in trouble.

Funny that..

oooo Witches Hat?The name is great, but what is it?(Spent a lot of time avoiding the playground myself.)

  2. I am so sorry to hear about the bullying. That makes me sad. I remember some instances but not regularly. I am not familiar with the witches hat either?

  3. Bullying is hard to forget, isn't it? I agree about the teachers, too. However, I did enjoy the monkey bars, no matter what. ; D

The witches hat – it's basically a roundabout. A big circle that hangs from a great big pole, either on chains (the best) or on poles (the sort I used to climb). So it got called the witches hat because it was pointed, and had a brim to sit on.The idea was, you got groups of people opposite each other and would run round in circles until your feet left the ground. Best trick was to get bigs on one side and smalls on the other.Dangerous and not allowed today. Today's kids are, I'm afraid, doomed to be wusses.
