I have just finished Born On A Blue Day by Daniel Tammet.  You may have seen him on TV in the documentary Brainman.  His story is amazing, but is not what this is about. 

After leaving school, he decides to do voluntary work overseas, in Lithuania.  Where he stays in Lithuania is a city called Kaunas.  Which both me and my Word  dictionary want to interpret as Kansas.  It is odd, how our brains do that – if the first and last letters of a word are there, the others can be all jumbled up and we will almost certainly just read the word. 

Even when they are not necessarily the correct letters, either, as it turns out.
